Foods to Increase GFR

Increasing GFR means the improvement of kidney function. To improve GFR, diet and healthy lifestyle are involved. Which foods can increase GFR?

First, let’s have a general overview about GFR.

GFR, the full name is glomerular filtration rate, is an indicator of how well your kidneys are working. A test estimates how much blood passes through your glomeruli, which are tiny filters in your kidneys, each minute.

GFR is closely related with kidney condition. A healthy kidney can help us filter blood. However, for kidney disease patients, kidneys are damaged, which makes them unable to filter the blood in our body within limited time. Therefore, their lab tests always show low GFR level.

Patients should keep a low salt, low fat, low protein diet in daily diet. The foods which can effectively increase GFR are just as follows:

1. Foods rich in vitamin A, vitamin B2 and vitamin C food items, such as tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, fresh jujube, watermelon, cucumber, watermelon, orange, kiwi and natural food such as fruit juice;

2. Can use a moderate intake of milk and lean meat to supplement the discharge loss.

Life depends on sports. Besides, you can do some soft exercises like yoga, Tai Chi and so on. Some strenuous exercise such as running and basketball should be avoided.

All above is the suggestion about what food can patients with kidney disease eat. If you still can not understand or want to know more detailed questions, you can consult our experts or send a email to pkdclinic888@hotmail.com. We will give you the specific answer.
